  • Aggression under the Guise of Liberation

With the Soviet invasion of Poland on 17 September 1939, a secret and extraordinary pact came into effect. Two opposing ideologies, National Socialism and Communism, joined forces to wipe the hated Poland off the map. Even plans for a sub-Poland were eventually dismissed. This co-operation had earlier historical roots, but was also born out of practical necessity. Besides the origins of cooperation, we will reflect on the practical implementation of this pact. Europe’s two largest armies fought the same opponent from opposite directions. With ideological diversity, conflicts and accidents lurked. Caution was imperative. Curiosity was there too; about each other’s weapons systems, each other’s armies and officers, and about the ‘Jewish’ political commissioners. Fear of friendly fire played a role a well, because accidents happen, and indeed things went wrong in several places.

Years and years have passed. Everything that I loved is now dead. Everything that I knew has taken on a new appearance. The church has been rebuilt. It now has an embellished doorway, arched windows, fancy gutter-spouts representing flaming mouths of demons; its new brick belfry laughs gaily into the blue; in place of the old house there now rises an elaborate Swiss cottage built by the new proprietor who, in the enclosure, has increased the number of colored glass balls, small cascades and plaster statues of Love, soiled by rain. But things and people are engraved so profoundly upon my memory that time could not apply a burnisher hard enough to erase them.

  • Chronicles of Climate Hysteria

    Chronicles of Climate Hysteria

    3

Climate cum energy policies have penetrated deeply into the fabric of our society, with disastrous consequences for our prosperity, due to an unprecedented rise in energy prices which triggered inflation and energy poverty for significant parts of the population. How did all that happen?

This book tries to answer that question.

It is a compilation of a number of articles that we have published in recent decades on climate and related topics, such as energy, both in The Netherlands and abroad. This volume addresses not only the climatic aspects of atmospheric warming, but also its political, economic and social implications. In other words, we have tried to shed light on the issue from different perspectives because we believe it can only be properly understood through a multidisciplinary approach.
